May 4, 2011 - Horizon has released revised REA reports for public review and comment. Turbines 10 and 11 have been removed from the project and the reports have been revised to incorporate this. They can be viewed here. The public commenting period has been extended to June 6, 2011. A summary of the changes to the reports, the locations at which they can be viewed, and the forthcoming meetings are included in this notice.
April 14, 2011 - Horizon Wind Inc. will continue its public consultation process for the Big Thunder Wind Park by hosting two additional public meetings this spring. Today, the dates of the public meetings regarding a proposal to engage in a renewable energy project were announced as follows: Tuesday May 17th, 2011, at the Blake Community Hall and Wednesday May 18th, 2011, at the Fort William Country Club. Additional details can be found in the notice released today.

In response to questions received during previous public meetings and by email and post, Horizon has released a Frequently Asked Questions document. Answers to commonly asked questions have been compiled within that document.
July 29, 2010 - Horizon is extending the public consultation period for the Draft Renewable Energy Approval Report and will be hosting additional open houses. A meeting is scheduled in Neebing Ward on August 23rd 6-9pm, Bestwestern Nor'Wester Resort Hotel, 2080 Highway 61. For those who cannot make it to the Aug 23rd meeting, a second meeting is being held on Aug 24th, 6-9pm in Blake Community Hall, RR7 Blake Hall Road. Details can be found on this Notice.
Horizon will extend the public opportunity to comment to the Draft Renewable Energy Approval report until August 24th. We strongly encourage those with questions, comments, and concerns to submit them to Horizon before this date. Hard copies of the report can be viewed at the Brodie Resource Library, the Waverly Resource Library, Thunder Bay City Hall and Municipality of Neebing's Municipal Office.
July 29, 2010 - Barbara Wallberg is the Grand prize winner of the "Capture the wind Photo Contest". Congratulations Barb! Barbara took a picture of iceboat races, which was held at Silver harbor in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
View the winning photo submission. Photographer's description: "no greater beauty that sailing into Thunder Bay harbour after a long day’s on the water. The world iceboat racing came to Thunder Bay this last winter as it was one of the few places in the world with clear ice. They found us on googlemaps when their original venue fell through.... The iceboat photos capture the essence of true wind power even in the dead of winter. Its always there and it is free. "

May 28, 2010 - A Draft Renewable Energy Approval Report is now available on our Project page. This report was written for submission to government agencies. It is being released for the public’s review for 60 days. We encourage those with questions, comments, and concerns to submit them to Horizon within this period. Hard copies can be viewed at the Brodie Resource Library, the Waverly Resource Library, Thunder Bay City Hall and Municipality of Neebing's Municipal Office. Two open houses are being held at the Blake Community Hall and Lakehead Labour Centre on August 4th and 5th respectively. Details can be found on this Notice.
